Family Update

Hi All,

Just wanted to send out and update. I am finally back at my folks and online after almost 2 wks. My gallbladder is out and I am almost done healing. I am still unemployed. Mark's folks came up for a week to help out while I recovered and Grandma O. really got Abby going more with the walking. She is walking almost all the time time now. Abby is 14 months old now and so much more talkative and counting 1,2 1,2, (sometimes even to 6) and a bunch of Baby tongues my mom calls it and we wish we knew what she was saying. She is getting 4 molars and growing so much I can put her hair in a ponytail on the top of her head now because her hair is getting so long. Mark had to work days this week and he had to work over the weekend. It is good I was hoime or we would have had to come up with babysitting. Mom and Dad are getting back from Florida tomorrow. WE best go home and feed the baby and see if I can get her to nap. That should be a challange.

Abby is 1!!

Hi All!

Well, Abby is a year old and 11 days! I had to wait to get this out as she just had her appointment last Friday. She started off the year with the stomach flu that lasted about a week and a half before she was acting like her self again which meant changing the party. She is now 20lbs 6oz 45- 50 percentile (which I think would have been more if not for the flu), she is 30 ½ inches tall which is the 87-90 percentile. She is tall. She is jabbering a lot more and is trying to walk when she feels like it. She cruses around the furniture, but won’t let go just yet. As for her Urinary tract infections she is still on antibiotics until I hear back from the doctor. She needs to contact the specialist. She is now is seems trying to get a cold. She loved Florida! I think I want to live there after a winter like this. Although Abby had her first sled ride yesterday and she seemed to like it. Mark wants to attach a harness to Annie so the dog can pull her around the yard! 

Hi All!

Abby is now 10 Months Old can you believe it! She is a goer and and climber and very strong willed! She is still working on those 4 top teeth. Actually she only has 2 that really still need to come through now.

Well, Abby had her tests at the U of M on Friday she was not happy. I thought the ultrasound would go ok, but she didn’t like the idea of being still. The other test as was worse for her as suspected. As there as a dr. in the room when it was done we found out right away that there was no reflux, so we don’t know what is causing the infections. We don’t have a follow up appointment with the specialist, so maybe she will call. I suspect this is something she will just have to out grow and until that time will be on antibiotics. I will let you know when I know more.

Abby Specialist Update

Hi All!

Abby had her appointment with the Pediatric Urologist specialist at the U of M yesterday and she was charmer and happy the whole time. They want to do the kidney ultrasound to make sure her kidneys are growing right and the VCUG (this is where they put in a catheter and fill her bladder and shot some contrast through the cath to see if the urine is going back up to the kidney’s they will be doing this about 3 times to try and set off the reflux). Apparently UTI’s aren’t suppose to cause fevers and she has had fevers all three times the last time she had strep throat to which is why she was running a 104 temp I am sure. The fever means bacteria are in her kidneys from the urine sitting there. She will be on the preventive antibiotic until she is at least 1. If the tests show something she will be on them until she out grows the reflux or might need surgery in the future to fix it. We are hoping she will grow out of it.

Friday Nov. 7th she is having these tests done. She seems to lay nice and still for the doctors so we will see how she does with this. She also seems to have grown a ¼ of an inch and 7 ounces since last week. They were surprised how tall she is for her age.

Abby 9 Month Update

Hi All!

Well, Abby is feeling better. She is 29 inches tall which is the 88 percentile and 19lbs 6oz which is 55 percentile. She had lost some weight when she was sick, but she gain a little over a pound back. As for her urinary tract infections (UTI) she has been put back on the preventive antibiotic and we will be taking her for a consult at the U of M. It is possible she will grow out of it. Mark family has a history of UTI ‘s so it could be hereditary. We will let you know when we do.

She is so funny she has learned to snort! It is really cute. She is as mobile as ever she will be a real handful when she starts walking. She is still working on those teeth too. Below is the picture of her snorting!

Hi All!

Well, this was supposed to be a 9 month stats update, but Abby decided that wouldn’t happen. What I thought and hoped was her teeth turned out to be another UTI and has a little bacteria in her throat.

She started running a temp Tuesday night and it just kept going up. I called the clinic Wednesday afternoon and they said keep her hydrated and try to keep her temp down and try to make it to her Friday well baby check. She didn’t make it that far. Thursday her temp spiked to 103.4 and to the clinic we went. They couldn't find anything viral for the cause of the fever, so she had to give urine sample to check for infection. Nothing really came back from so we had to wait to see if the culture would grow. The doctor started her back on the antibiotic just to be safe and said to try Motrin to get the fever down which did bring it down some. Well, Friday very early morning she woke up burning up 103.5. We cooled her best we could and I called the 24 hour nurse line and they said not to worry until it gets to 104 -105. We got her back to sleep to have her wake up at 7 with 103.8 and Mark said we could take her in. So off to the urgent care/ER where her temp thanks to the Motrin was down to 100.6 (little Stinker) by the time we got there. They did a chest X-ray and throat culture which they said came back fine. They told us just keep doing what we were doing and the antibiotic she was taking would cover any bacteria that might be there. Friday afternoon it actually spiked to 104, but by that night she was down to a nice 99.9 unfortunately she woke at 1:30am with 103.3 again, but hasn't had one since. I think she has built a resistance to Tylenol, because that wasn’t doing anything for her.

A nurse from the hospital called yesterday afternoon to say her throat culture after growing did have a few little bugs in it and to see how Abby was. She had to talk to Dr. about what he wanted to do about the little bugs in her throat. She called back to say she had ecoli in her urine which means infection and her antibiotic was fine for her throat to. Bummer! Now she will have to get the test again to see if her urine is going back into her kidneys and probably be on Antibiotics for a while. I should get a call from her Doctor today. She is fighting the antibiotic now, so this has been fun. I think she is tired of getting medicine after this last week. Needless to say you can’t do a well baby check when the baby is sick, so I have to re-schedule that appointment.

She is feeling better, but still a little fussy and very tired. She wants to be held a lot or not at all so she can get into whatever she can get her hands on! She is still working on those eye teeth the one tooth just doesn’t want to come through.

She is pulling herself up and trying to walk around things now. I am bummed because we just got her to sleep completely through the night and now it is back to the drawing board with that one. The picture i am posting is actually at 8 months but it all i have access to right now.

Hi All!

I know I haven't been good about getting on here and putting pictures on and stuff. Abby has a new accomplishment! She crawled last night! She did crawled about 3 feet a few different times. time to really Abby proof the house! She is a great baby, but she is very busy and curious. my dad is now feverishly working on finishing our stairwell and making a gate for the top of it.

Abby is 6 months old today. I will add some pictures when I get a chance. She has been sleeping through the night as far as I am concerned because she wakes around 3:30 and I get up around 4. She had slept through the night til 6:30 twice this past weekend in HER Bed in HER Room. She didn't quite make it that far this morning though. I am going to try and keep her in her room from now on.

She had a big weekend. Lots of company for July 4th and for her dedication on Sunday. She is a real trooper. All that passing around while teething and hot and she was still happy! Her first tooth is breaking through! She very very very close to sitting to. She can do it then throws herself back so we have to make sure there is a person or pillows behind her. She has her 6 month well baby check appointment on Friday, so I will update with stats later.

I will try and post the video of her dedication for those of you who weren't there.

Abby is 5 Months Old!

Abby is 5 months old as of yesterday. She is rolling over and has the cutest squeals and babbles. She really loves to hear her voice! . She has now almost made it thru her first cold. Her cold caused a bump in the sleeping through the night road, but we are getting back on track now. She doesn't like to be in one place for too long, so we are constantly moving her from one thing to another. These are her 4 month pictures.

I had to share an exciting milestone for Abby she started sleeping through the night this weekend! Yeah! She was still a sleep when I left this morning going for her longest night yet! Ok, so half that time is spent in our bed, but she is sleeping through. Now the next thing will be sleeping through without being in our bed!

Hi All!

Well, Abby is 4 months old and she had her 4 month well baby check yesterday. They were surprised how big she has gotten! She is now 14lbs 3.7 oz, 25 ¼ inches long which means she is in the 62 percentile with her weight and 82 percentile with her height! She is so going to out grow her Mama! She will be on her preventive antibiotic until she is 6 months and then at the appointment they will set up an appointment to re-do the test that will show whether she has any urinary reflux into her kidneys. If not then, we can stop the antibiotic, if there is then we will have to see where we go from there. We are praying for no reflux! I will be adding pictures soon!

Hi All!

I know it has been awhile and I have been scolded for not updating this after the baby came. Abby Lynn Oelke arrived on January 8th at 12:32pm. From the time my water broke and she arrived was 16hrs and 47min. 13min short of 17 hours! She was 6lbs 4oz & 21.5 inches long with brown hair with red highlights.

She does have her Daddy's, chin, mouth, hairline and blue eyes! She has my nose and hair color. There has definitely been some adjusting to do. She has had a few nursing issues, but at her 2 wk appoint she was 7lbs 9oz! She is getting bigger and cuter everyday. She started smiling within the first 2 wks. I am going to hate to go back to work in a couple of weeks. I have added some pictures.

I just wanted to pop in and say: " WE ARE IN OUR HOUSE!!!!" Well, we will be tonight. We will move the rest over our stuff over and be able to sleep in our own bed!! Puppy is in a extreme hyper puppy mode right now, so maybe this will help her as well.

We added a new member to our family last Sunday. She is a 8 wk old short hair black lab mix and her name is Annie. Mark finally has his "Annie Oelke". My Mom has been great about her being at the house and even helps take care of her. It is a transition for us( dog included). She gave us a scare yesterday(Friday 11/23) and took a fall through the end of our temporary railing around the stairway inside. She fell around 7-8 feet and hit the last 3 stairs. She was ok, because she didn't land on the concrete floor. Here is some pictures of her.

Hi All!

We have running water!! After today we will have heat. The garage raising party I mentioned has now been changed to November 17th. Anyone who is willing to help is more then welcome to come up help, check out our house and eat! The way things have been going it could change back to November 7th. I am aware of Deer hunting and that might affect who comes and who doesn't. It could be one or the other at this point. It will not be later then that because that would put us into December. I will post more pictures later.

For the next update. As with construction things get frustrating and delayed. Our house is on the basement. We have electricity, a well(but no running water), septic system and all our stuff is in the house. We got some painting done which still needs to be touch up and of course we still have to paint the baby's room. As we still don't have a stairwell to the basement we can't get completely settle yet.

They are suppose to start the basement stairwell tomorrow. We will see if that gets going. There is a frame for the garge slab, but it is not poured yet. I hope the rain holds off so they can do that! We still need permanent stairs outside too.

My folks have been in Florida visiting my brother's family, so when they get back my Dad has a lot to do. He has to convert our gas to propane, so we can get our propane next week and have heat. He also has to hook up the plumbing to the upstairs so we have running water. This will be nice, because when you are pregnant and don't have running water it is not so nice. Mark built the fire pit this weekend so we can have a fire out there. Right now it looks like our garage raising party will be Saturday, November 3rd.

I am going to try to attach some pictures. As I have misplaced my camara some of the newer pictures will be added later. It looks like the house actually being put on the basement pictures will have to be a seperate post. The one picture is me picking apples from one of four apple trees on our lot. I will add more later when I get the pictures downloaded.

Hi All!!

I am back!!!! I know some of you have been check back faithfully for updates and I am finally getting to it. I am now 27 weeks pregnant. Almost at the 7 month mark. I will post the ultrasound pictures for those that might not have gotten them. Baby girl was already 14 oz at 21 weeks, so she is probably a good 2 pounds now. She is moving around a lot more now and I can feel her on both sides of my stomache at the same time! Pretty cool she is getting long to. As you can see she gave us the thumbs up, showed us her foot,leg (she was upside down butt in the air for the leg one if that helps)and her profile. My Mom says she has my nose and Mark's chin! What do you guys think?

Our House update:

There will be a lot going on at our house this week and the house should be moved up and put on next Monday. I will put more pictures out when I have that ability again. We are officially at my folks house. Mark has put in his notice at his second job and will probably be looking into getting a job at a Subway closer to us. He doesn't like the late nights and early mornings. For which I am glad. More later! Love To All!!

My Pregnancy

This is a Journal of my pregnancy. As I had come to believe I would never be able to have a child of my own God decided it was time for a miracle. So, against all odds He opened my womb and gave us a baby. I didn't believe it at first, so I took the test 3 times! I found out right before Mother's day so not only did I get a present my Mom got the best present of finding out she is going to be a grandma again!

I went in to the doctor for a confirmation test and found I was 5 weeks along. The next week I went in for a 6 week ultrasound. Here it is:

The reproductive specialist sais all looked good and sent me back to the Ob/GYN. I had my first official Ob appointment on June 13 when I was 9 weeks along. He said all looked good and we would be able to hear the heartbeat at the next appointment.

Here I am at 8 weeks along

I had my next appointment on July 11 at 13 weeks along and after waiting a long 1 hour and 45 minutes to finally see the Doctor we got to hear our little one's heartbeat. I will have to figure out a way to insert the recording of the heartbeat.

Here I am at 16 weeks along that is 4 months folks!

I had my next Dr. Appointment on August 8th. We heard the heartbeat again and heard the baby moving around.

My next appointment is set up for September 5 and at that time I will be getting my 21 week ultrasound and if the baby cooperates we will finally know if it is a boy or girl!

August 20th update:

On Friday August 10th I felt the baby move for the first time. I have felt it several times since then.

August 30th Update:

I am 20 weeks along now that is 5 months. The baby has been moving around a lot more and I am getting a little bigger and actually looking pregnant now. Mark still hasn't felt the baby move I hope that happens soon. Here is my current belly picture.

OUR HOUSE MOVE

They are explanding 2 highways bordering our park, so we purchased a lot in Rush City about 5-6 miles from my folks house. We will be moving our house on to a basement on the lot. Work has started on the basement. I am adding some pictures of our packing process and the process of our lot. I will update as we go.

August 20th Update:

They got most of our driveway done just needs some gravel. They are ready to biuld the forms for the walls and get the septic in. If it would only stop raining so they can. I added more pictures at the bottom.

August 30th Update:

We have basement walls! They are poured and working to put the beams in so the house can be moved on next Wednesday. There was some question as to whether we could put the house on and we needed the plans from the Manufacturer and since they weren't cooperating Mark drove at to Montevideo and got them. That is at least 3 hours one way and 3 1/2 to get them to the contractor and another hour home. He then took a nap before going to work at Subway. We are moving the rest of our stuff to my folks on Monday. It will then probably be another month before we can move back in. I am going to put the newest pictures on top from now it is easier. The big dog in the pictures is our new neighbors dog.
